Obituary of Rebecca Jean Garcia

Rebecca Jean Garcia, age 69, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Lightways Hospice Home.

Born August 1, 1952 in Seneca, IL, she was the daughter of the late Vale and Elizabeth (Roe) Sheedy, and was a graduate of Seneca High School.  She worked as a team leader for Rockwell International in Downers Grove, and was later employed by Fusion Aetek in Plainfield, and ELCON, Inc. in Minooka.

Rebecca was a loving and devoted wife and mother who enjoyed football and following the Chicago Bears.  She attended St. Dennis Catholic Church in Lockport, and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Joliet, and enjoyed helping at church.

Surviving are her beloved husband, Jose Garcia of Lockport; one son, Alex Garcia of Lockport; one sister, Barbara (Darrell) Corcoran in Pennsylvania; two brothers, Thomas (Jeanette) Sheedy in South Carolina and Michael Sheedy of Seneca; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Rebecca Garcia will be held Sunday, December 12, 2021 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet.  Funeral services will be held Monday, December 13, 2021 at 9:15 a.m., from the funeral home to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Joliet, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Joliet.
