Obituary of Theresa Kern

Theresa “Bird” Kern, age 70, of Shorewood, IL passed away on Friday, December 10, 2021 at AMITA Health St. Joseph Medical Center, Joliet, IL.  She was born July 6, 1951 in Chicago, IL the daughter of the late William and Lucille Bills.

Theresa grew up in the Bridgeport Neighborhood of Chicago.  She worked for over 20 years as a Vertical Secretary for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office in the Juvenile Department, retiring in 2015.

Theresa loved couponing and shopping.  She would stock up on the “basics” and would share her shopping finds with family and friends.  Her other hobby was visiting the casinos and video gaming establishments, with Harrah’s Casino- Joliet being her favorite.  She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and family.

She is survived by her children, Gina (Jason) Judge of Shorewood, IL and Edward (Sarah) Kern of Oak Lawn, IL; her loving grandchildren, Jordyn, Jaxson and Teagan; and dear brother, Charles Bills of Bridgeport.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation for Theresa “Bird” Kern will be Wednesday, December 15, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until the Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet.
