Obituary of Bernard P. Betzel

Bernard Patrick Betzel, age 59, died of natural causes on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 in Verona, Illinois. He was born on March 23, 1962, to the late Robert Milton Betzel and Patricia T. Walsh. He grew up living in Verona, IL, with his mother and stepfather, Michael K. Walsh.  He was one of four children.

Bernard is survived by his brothers, Mark (Jennie) Betzel and Shaun (Lisa) Betzel; sister, Colleen T. (Randy) Lentz; 10 nieces and nephews; and 11 great-nieces and nephews.

He had been married to Gail Huderlic for 25 years. They are divorced now but he never stopped loving her.

Bernard was a key part of the family business for many years. He always loved animals, they were like his children. He loved spending time with family and many friends at gatherings and on the river boating. He was deeply loved and he will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to any animal anti-cruelty society would be appreciated. There will be a memorial service held in January. Details will follow at a later date.
