James P. Guest

Age 62. At rest Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at home with his family by his side. Born in Streator, IL to the late Charles and Mary (Moloney) Guest; he was a resident of Joliet since 1968. Graduate of Reddick High School; he attended Southern Illinois University and Joliet Junior College. Retired from the City of Joliet as a Firefighter Apparatus Operator on February 5, 2001, following 26 years of dedicated service. Nominated Firefighter of the Year in 1993. Member of the Retired Firefighters Association, Dale A.C., and St. Patrick's Catholic Church. An avid fisherman, hunter and all around outdoorsman.
Surviving are his loving wife of 36 years, Mary Beth (DelRose) Guest of Joliet; one daughter, Elizabeth Anne "Beth" (Donald Gene) Rivera III of Joliet; his granddaughter and apple of his eye, Caitlin Elizabeth Rivera; his mother-in-law, Mary E. DelRose of Crest Hill; sister-in-law, Victoria (Steve) Kula of Frankfort; and his nephew, Nicholas Kula of Frankfort. He was also a special "Dad-like" figure to Amy Villarreal and Trichelle Delucio. Numerous cousins, dear friends, and fellow colleagues of the Joliet Fire Department also survive.
Preceded in death by his parents and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Joliet Area Community Hospice, and lifelong friend and Hospice nurse Pat White, as well as Dave Eicholzer, Brian "Rocky" Plyer, Dave Hausman, Donna Lyle, Pat Marietta, Jeanine Paul and Nancy O'Connell.
Funeral Services for James P. Guest will be Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to St. Patrick Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorials in his name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation Monday 3-8 p.m. at:
