Obituary of Vickie L. Claiborn
Vickie L Claiborn, age 65 of Braidwood, IL died unexpectedly on Friday, December 17th, 2021, at St. Joseph Hospital, Joliet IL. She was born October 17th, 1956, in Ottawa IL,
the daughter of George and Eva Raikes (Bloomfield) Emanuelson.
Vickie graduated from Marseilles high school, Class of 1975. Following graduation, she started her career in the security field and became a mother. Vickie was employed in the security industry for nearly her entire career. She worked for many different companies and made many great friends along the way, a few of those being lifelong friends including her eventual husband, Clinton.
Vickie and Clinton were married on March 26th, 1993. This coming March would have been their 29th year of marriage. The two of them shared many hobbies like camping, scuba diving, NASCAR racing, and motorcycle travel, but nothing brought her as much joy as spending time with her family and friends or getting lost in a good book.
In Vickie’s spare time she wasn't hard to find. She loved her church, Southfield Church, and the people in it, so she spent much of her time at the church or with her fellow members doing bible study. Vickie was also famous for her handmade crochet gifts. She would learn new stitches just so she could make something to give away. This is just who she was, a giver to everyone around her, humble and unselfish.
Vickie is preceded in death by her father, George.
Surviving is her mother, Eva of Ottawa; husband, Clinton of Braidwood; daughter, Nicole Philips (Smith) and her wife, Chantal of Streator; son, Kenneth Smith and his wife, Stephanie (Elam) of Coal City; son, Brandon Claiborn and his wife, Amy (Cockreem) of Lafayette, Co; foster daughter, Kerrigan Maganifci of Marseilles; eleven grandchildren and one great-grandson; brothers, Steven Bloomfield and his wife, Glena of Marseilles, Jimmy (Smokey) Emanuelson and his wife, Judy of Marseilles, Robert Emanuelson and his wife, Pam of Ottawa; sister, Della Worley (Raikes) of Marseilles; her aunt, Edith Wagner of Austin Tx. formally of Morris; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins in Illinois and sprinkled throughout the country also survive.
