Obituary of Nancy Ann Shroba
Nancy Ann Shroba, passed away peacefully at the age 90, on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Amita St. Joseph Medical Center. Nancy was born in Danville, IL, on September 15, 1931, the only daughter of the late Harold and Geneva (nee Burks) Nelson. She grew up in Rankin, IL before moving to Joliet, where she attended Joliet Township High School. Nancy spent her career as a dedicated receptionist, retiring from the practice of Dr. James Lofky, DDS, and formerly working for Gallowich, Gallowich, McSteen, and Phelan Law Firm and Mainline Aviation at the Joliet Airport.
In her free time, Nancy enjoyed crocheting, crafting, and researching her ancestry and family history. More than anything, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She leaves behind a legacy that lives on in the lives of all who loved her.
Nancy is survived by her three children, Raymond V. (Patricia) Shroba III, John N. Shroba and Judy A. (Alan) Thompson; five grandchildren, Raymond V. (Kathy) Shroba IV, Carrie (Andrew) Little, Melanie Pershall, Patrick J. (Samantha) Shroba and Samantha Lee; seven great-grandchildren, Matthew, Katelyn, Neil, Kaleb, Yvonne, Harper, and Ian.
She is preceded by her loving husband of 69 years, Raymond V. Shroba; and her parents.
Visitation for Nancy Ann Shroba will be held from 10:00 a.m until the time of service at12:00 noon, on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 5501 N Cumberland Ave #101, Chicago, IL 60656, would be appreciated.
