Obituary of Robert Melvin Weber

Mr. Robert Melvin Weber passed away at the age of 68 on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at home, surrounded by family. Bob was born in Joliet, IL on June 2, 1953. He was the son of Melvin C. Weber and Bernice L. (Dubbert) Weber who preceded him in death. He is the beloved husband of 32 years to Suzanne (Zaworski) Weber and loving father of Raymond P. Weber and Sarah Z. Weber (Justin Cates). He is also survived by his siblings Larry (Jane) Weber, Nancy (Michael) Kelly, and several nieces and nephews.  

Bob served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War as an Electronics Technician (radar) Petty Officer 2nd Class. While in the Navy he attended Nuclear Power School. He put those skills to use along with further education in instrumentation and control by working in the nuclear power industry and servicing municipal water facilities around the country. 

Bob was an accomplished pilot, airplane, and motorcycle mechanic, as well as a computer and nuclear technician. Later in life, he finished school for HVAC and received his N.A.T.E. and EPA certifications from Joliet Junior College. He also earned his degree as an airplane mechanic from Lewis University. Other interests included sailing and boating, cars, bicycling, and being the best Dad and husband any family could ask for. 

A Memorial Visitation for Bob will be Thursday, December 30, 2021, from 8:30 a.m. until a brief prayer service begins at 10:15 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet, IL.  A Memorial Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 901 Elizabeth St., Joliet.  Interment will take place at a later date.
