Obituary of Kenneth J. Zbacnik
Kenneth Joseph Zbacnik, age 76, of Minooka the past 40 years, and formerly of Joliet, passed away Friday, December 31, 2021 at Loyola University Medical Center.
Born May 26, 1945 in Joliet, he was the son of the late Joseph and Ann (Tadey) Zbacnik. He was raised in Joliet, and was a graduate of Joliet Catholic High School, Class of 1963. Ken was a veteran of the United States Army attaining the rank of Sergeant, and a proud member of IBEW Local #176. For many years, he also served as a volunteer with the Minooka Fire Protection District.
He was a hard worker, loved being an electrician, and was pleased to have a son follow in his profession. Ken enjoyed retirement following 48 years of dedicated service to his trade.
Ken was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who will never be forgotten by his family and friends. He had a special place in his heart for the Wisconsin Dells, a vacation destination he enjoyed as a child, and where he would come to have his own place on Lake Delton as an adult. It was there he would love to relax and talk over a cold beer, and the friends he made in Wisconsin were like family to him. He also loved to visit Disney World and trips to the Magic Kingdom were a rite of passage for each grandchild when they reached a certain age. In his free time, he loved working with Legos and the things he built were large and very detailed.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Linda (Bravato) Zbacnik of Minooka; his loving children, Carol (Scott) Smith of Minooka, Michelle Zbacnik of Minooka, and Tim (Kate) Zbacnik of Minooka; his adoring grandchildren, Hayley and Justin Smith, and Colin, Camille and Coco Zbacnik; and his dear sister, Bev (the late John) Miklic. He was also a fond brother-in-law to Beverly Sanderson, Bob (Molly) Bravato, Mary Pat (John) Frye, Barbara Ludwig, Phyllis (Guy) Wimberly, Larry (Beth) Bravato, Nick (Joanne) Bravato, Otto Bravato, Tom (the late Barb) Bravato, John Bravato, and the late Steve (Oriana) Bravato; and a favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews.
