Obituary of Mary Gunderson

Gunderson, Mary Age 92, of Joliet, passed away Friday, October 21, 2011 at Provena Villa Franciscan. Born April 23, 1919 in Union, IL, she was daughter of Martin and Maria (nee Pizardo) Leggero. Mary worked many years for the U.S. Postal Service retiring as clerk. She was an active volunteer for the St. Joseph Hospital Gift Shop, the Will County Senior Center, and the Girl Scouts. Preceded in death in 1956 by her beloved husband, Robert N. Gunderson; and her parents; three brothers, Pio, Seveno and John Leggero Surviving are her devoted daughter, Edith Small of New Lenox; two grandchildren, Colleen (Brant) Small-Vollman and Phillip (Kelly) Small; three great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Marina and Gwyneth; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mary Gunderson will be Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 9:45 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church for Mass of Chrisitian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Cremation Rites will be accorded following the Mass.
