I knew Rich many years ago during high school. Rich, Bill Vogrin, and I were like the Three Musketeers. Whenever one of us could borrow the family car, we would ride around town looking for something to do. Usually, we landed either at a JCHS football game or a bowling alley. Rest in peace Rich.

I worked with Rich at Cordano's for seven years back in the late 80's early 90's on Hickory street. He was a great guy, always smiling and pleasant. We always looked forward to his rum birthday cakes. He was a great accountant and was patient with our questions. He will be missed.

I first met Rich at St Paul Church, where I became such good friends with him and Teresa. I will always remember the days of having him as our greeter at St Paul. He will be missed dearly. My deepest sympathy to you Teresa and the rest of the family. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Rich, Therese and Nancy were our (backyard)neighbors. We lived on Edgebrook Drive and they lived directly behind us in Shorewood, IL. They were the first neighbors that welcomed us to the neighborhood when we were transferred to the Joliet area from Cedar Rapids,Iowa in 1974. Our daughters Cindy and Wendy were welcomed by their lovely daughter, Nancy. They became instant friends playing non stop in Nancy’s sand box. It was there the girls developed a sand, water, soap mixture called “fluff”. I don’t know what we would have done without the Schreiner’s. They were there to take care of our girls while I was in the hospital giving birth to our son Jim. Our friendship continued even tho’ we moved to Rock Island,IL 4 years later. Christmas cards and phone calls were exchanged over the years. Nancy came to visit us for a few weekends over the early years in Rock Island. The Schreiner’s surprised us by attending our girls’ weddings. We were all thrilled! Our children learned to eat green beans from Rich and Therese vegetable garden because John called them “ Nancy’s beans”…… and to this day, green beans are still called “ Nancy’s beans.”
Therese and Nancy, you have our sincere sympathy.. Rich was a wonderful neighbor and friend.
