Joseph Carneghi

Obituary of Joseph R. Carneghi

Age 82, a lifelong Joliet resident, passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday, January 19, 2022 with his children by his side.  Born March 11, 1939, to the late Ann and Joseph J. Carneghi, Joe attended St Patrick Grade School, class of 1955, and graduated from Joliet Catholic High School with the class of 1957.

He was a United States Navy Veteran, serving from 1960 - 1966.  He was the retired owner/operator of Carneghi Plumbing and Heating, a family-owned and operated business that Joe’s father started, and served the Joliet area for eight decades.

He is the beloved father of Scott Carneghi and Jayme (Jonathan) Stachura, and the proud Papa of Logan and Raegan Stachura.  He is survived by many relatives and friends, including the families of Gary Gibson, Donna (Mark) Hall, Wendell L. (Donna) Gibson Jr, and the Cimino family.

Joe, “Boat” as he was known in his younger days, always looked forward to catching up at annual get-togethers with school classmates.  He was an avid fisherman and long-time member of the Coal City Area Club.  He enjoyed bowling in the Ding-a-Lings league at Town and Country Lanes and remained a loyal Chicago Bears fan through the years.  He was also a grateful supporter of The Cradle Adoption Agency in Evanston, IL.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn (nee Peterson) Carneghi, and his parents.

Joe’s family will always be grateful to the caregivers and staff of Lightways Hospice for their exemplary care and compassion surrounding Mr. Carneghi in his last days.
