Obituary of Carolyn Bourland
Carolyn “Sue” Bourland, age 74, of Joliet, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Amita Health St. Joseph Medical Center Joliet.
She was born August 26, 1947, in Richmond, KY, to the late Robert Dalton and Uneeda (Dunaway) Adams. As a daughter in a military family she enjoyed most of her youth traveling the world. She met her husband “Reg” while stationed in Germany.
Sue received her education in Texas and at Joliet Junior College. She worked as a Registered Nurse for numerous long term care facilities in Joliet, including Villa Franciscan, Our Lady of Angels and Sunny Hill Nursing Home.
A loving and devoted wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Sue loved spending time with her family and grandchildren and made Christmas the most special time of the year. She had a passion for bowling and was a dear friend to many at Town and Country Lanes. She loved shopping, had a keen eye for specials, and enjoyed playing Bingo, Candy Crush, FarmVille and attending the VFW picnics. Her soothing cuddles and infectious laugh will be dearly missed by all, and no one will ever take her place.
Surviving is her beloved husband of 54 years, Reginald Bourland of Joliet; three loving children, Samantha (Robert) De La Cruz, Robert “Grady” (Loretta) Bourland, and Tiffine (Tina) Scott; her adoring grandchildren, Stephanie, Robert, Brittany and Erasmo De La Cruz and Miranda (Rich) and Cody Bourland; her great-grandchildren, Christopher, Amelia, Joel, Esmeralda, Taylor and Hayley; two brothers, Robbie (Frankie) Adams and Dwayne (Teri) Adams; two sisters, Gigi (Brian) Seibel and Pam (Tim) Moritz; many nieces and nephews; and her granddogs, Lucy and Lola.
A Visitation for Carolyn “Sue” Bourland will be held Friday, January 28, 2022 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet. Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation and interment will be private.
