Obituary of Mary Ellen Powers

Age 79, of Shorewood, IL passed from this life Tuesday morning, January 25, 2022 at her home.

She was born July 10, 1942 to the late Kathryn (Edgeworth) and Stephen Powers in Chicago, IL where she was raised and educated, a graduate of Kelly High School

Mary is the beloved aunt of Mary Sims; dearest great aunt of Lorraine, Jason, Nicholas, Randy, Kathy and Trinity; proud great-great-aunt of Jeremiah, Lorraine and Scarlett.

Preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lenore Sims; brother, Thomas Powers; two nieces, Cynthia Cusimano and Susan Raman; nephew, Stephen Sims and great-nephew, Jeremy Raman.

Mary was employed as a bookkeeper for many years.  She will be remembered by her family as a very kind and caring woman who enjoyed visiting with her family, friends and neighbors.

Visitation for Mary will be held Wednesday, February 2, 2022 from 10 am until services begin at 11 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd) Joliet.  Interment will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Alsip, IL.
