Obituary of Larry Allen Wagner
Larry Allen Wagner
Larry Allen Wagner, age 63, passed away peacefully at his home in Joliet, on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, surrounded by the love of his family. Larry was born on March 30, 1958, the son of Dale and Josephine “Jo” Wagner. Born and raised in Joliet, Larry was a graduate of Joliet West High School, Class of 1976. Larry has been an avid boater since age 17, when he purchased his first of many boats. His greatest joy was being on the water, in a boat or on a beach. He truly enjoyed his work as assistant manager at Chicago Yacht Club Belmont Harbor and his years spent in the Coast Guard. We remember Larry as a master craftsman in everything he did, whether building, remodeling or gardening. Equally he was an excellent cook with an appreciation for fine dining, a passion for entertaining, and who loved traveling. He was quick witted and never met a stranger. But Larry will be remembered most for his heart as a devoted caregiver, dedicated friend and helper to so many family, friends and neighbors.
Larry is survived by his loving mother, Jo Wagner; his devoted canine companion, “Lola”; cousins, Janet Hughes, Shelley Roe, Gary Wagner, Millie Largen, Barb Remley, and Jim Ward; and his sister by heart, Lisa (Thad) Crawford. He is the beloved uncle to Natalie Crawford, Noah Crawford, Amy Yoder, Sam Roe, and Brian Roe and leaves behind many special longtime friends in both Illinois and Florida.
He is preceded in death by his father, Dale A. Wagner; aunts, Sophie Patton, Rose Ward, Mary Thomas, and Jackie Wagner; and uncles, Steve Faynik, and Louis Faynik.
Funeral Services for Larry Allen Wagner will be held privately by the family. As it was his request, cremation rights have been accorded. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Memorials in his name to Light Ways Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431 or to Will County Humane Society, 24019 Seil Rd., Shorewood, IL 60404 would be appreciated.
