Obituary of Angelo J. Kappas
Angelo J. Kappas passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at his late residence at the age of 92. He was born in Kapsia, Greece and migrated to the United States in 1951, settling in Joliet.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Panagoula (Sideris) Kappas (2002); his parents, John and Efstathia (Stavropoulos) Kappas; siblings, Dimitri, Constantine, Georgia and Christina.
Angelo is survived by his children, John (Joan) Kappas of Plainfield and Tia (Ted) Lazakis of Long Grove, IL; proud grandfather of Angelo (Victoria) Kappas, James (Megan) Kappas, George (Kate) Kappas, Alex Lazakis and Pamela Lazakis; and seven great-grandchildren that loved their Great Papou; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Angelo was a member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church and AHEPA.
He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, who provided endless opportunities for his family, all of whom will be forever grateful.
Visitation for Angelo J. Kappas will be Friday, February 11, 2022 at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet, from 4:30-7:30 p.m. with Trisagion Services at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be Saturday, February 12, 2022 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, 102 N. Broadway St., Joliet, for services at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
