Obituary of Michael G. Greenwood

Age 70 of Shorewood, passed away Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Lightways Hospice Home.  He was born in Chicago, where he was proud of his Southside Irish heritage, the son of the late Bernard and Ann (Murphy) Greenwood, residing in Shorewood the past 44 years.  Mike retired from UPS as an account executive in 2001 following over 28 years of service.  He enjoyed reading, golf and attending his grandchildren’s activities.

 

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Penny (Claiborn) Greenwood of Shorewood; 3 children, Erin (Ray) Smith of Joliet, Shannon (Bay) Sonthipanya of Geneva, IL and Anthony (Elizabeth) Greenwood of Minooka; five grandchildren, Bridgette and Daniel Smith, Emma and Jacob Sonthipanya, and Merrick Greenwood; two sisters, Maureen (Dave) Finan of Mokena and Eileen (Brian) Finlay of Orland Park; several nieces and nephews also survive.

 

Visitation for Michael G. Greenwood will be Monday, February 14, 2022 at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd.(at Essington Rd.), Joliet, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.  Funeral Services will be Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel.  Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
