Obituary of George D Skiotes

George D. Skiotes, Age 83, resident of Crest Hill, IL, passed away peacefully, Wednesday evening, March 2, 2022 at the Lightways Hospice Home of Joliet.  George was born on July 16, 1938 to the late Mary and Nicholas Skiotes in Joliet, IL and was a lifelong area resident.

He was a graduate of St. John Catholic Grade School, Joliet Catholic High School Class of 1956 and JJC. He had retired from Joliet Post Office. He was a proud member of the American Italian Cultural Society, former member of Speed Boys AC, Stein's Tavern, and a longtime beleaguered Chicago Bears fan.

Survived by his wife of 50 years, Paula (nee Eich); brothers, Nick (Florence) Scott and Ioannis Skiotes; sisters in-law, Sue (the late Jim) Ciarlette and Carmen (the late Dick) Voitik; brother in-law, Ray (Pam) Eich; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Darrow "Dot" and Raymond Eich; and sister-in-laws, Jacquelyn (James) Fronek and Kay (Vince) Wilhelmi.

As it was George's wish, cremation rites have been accorded.

A Memorial Visitation for George D. Skiotes will take place Sunday, March 6, 2:00-5:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet.

All friends and relatives are invited to meet Monday, March 7, 12:00 Noon at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 1711 Burry Circle, Crest Hill, for a Memorial Mass.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Lady of Angels Joliet or to Lightways Hospice.
