Obituary of Margaret M. Passas
Margaret M. “Margo” Passas, age 86, of Joliet, passed away peacefully, Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Lightways Hospice Home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a true warrior.
Born January 16, 1936 in Joliet, she was the daughter of George J. and Helen (Koukas) Passas, and was a graduate of Joliet Township High School. She enjoyed a long and rewarding career with the E. J. & E. Railroad, Caterpillar, Inc., and EDS Electro-Motive, retiring in 1997.
Margo was a fun-loving person with an amazing sense of humor. She loved her church, All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, her church family, and the many friendships she developed through her membership in the Philoptochos Society and the Daughters of Penelope. During her final illness, she enjoyed the live streamed church services which brought her great comfort.
She loved to travel and visited many places with her friends and nephews, and especially enjoyed visiting California, where she experienced appearing in two movies. With all her many interests and activities, her occasional trips to the casino with her dear friends provided an opportunity to forget her cares and health concerns.
Margo also loved her family deeply and showered them with kindness and love. She will always be remembered by her loved ones and no one will ever take her place.
Margo is survived by her devoted sister, Margie (the late James) Walsh of Plainfield. She was also the dear aunt of George (Edith) Walsh, James Walsh, Peter Passas, Catherine Passas, and Elene Busbey; and great-aunt of Zakkary Warsaw, Zoe and Abbie Walsh, Lauren Thompson and Peter John Passas. Margo also has numerous great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Peter G. (Alice) Passas, James Passas, and Steve (Marina) Passas; and a beloved nephew, George P. Passas.
Her family would like to extend their special thanks to all who supported Margo and the family throughout this difficult time. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
