Obituary of Donald Martin Fier

Donald M. Fier, age 76, passed away Monday, March 7, 2022 at Lightways Hospice Care in Joliet.  

Don was a longtime Shorewood resident.  He worked at Natural Gas Pipeline and the Village of Shorewood.  Don also owned the Fish N More Pet Shop in Marycrest Shopping Center.  After his retirement, Don was a Crossing Guard for the Joliet School District.  Don loved to be outdoors, fishing or working in his garden, usually accompanied by his Dachshund Maggie.  

Preceded in death by his parents, Alex Fier (1970), and Elizabeth Fier (2014, nee Batusich).

Survived by his wife, Myrna Fier (Gierich) of Shorewood; daughter Traci (Brian) Hafner of Plainfield; son Mark (Dawn) Fier of Shorewood; five grandchildren whom Don deeply adored, Zachary and Joshua Hafner, Madelyn, Nicholas and Paige Fier.  

A private Funeral Service was held on Thursday, March 10 at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home.  Don was laid to rest at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet.
