Obituary of Michael Joseph Scordo
It is with deepest sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, family member and friend Michael Joseph Scordo. Michael, age 31, lost his battle with Covid-19 on Friday, March 11, 2022 at Amita St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.
Michael was born in Hinsdale, IL, grew up in Plainfield, IL and was a 2009 graduate of Plainfield South High School. He had a natural gift for drawing and writing, often making custom comic books for classmates when he was young. His gift of creativity was also evident in his love of experimenting in the kitchen. Michael loved family and tradition and he expressed that in creating and sharing a meal with his loved ones. He considered himself a cinephile and loved movies of every genre especially sci-fi/fantasy/comic book movies. His interests weren’t strictly artistic; he loved to swim and fish, the latter a joy he inherited from his Papa.
Michael was strong willed and stubborn at times but had a big heart and was kind and generous to a fault. He had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his loving parents, John and Jenny (Scordo) Myers; his loving brother, Patrick Myers; his papa, Joseph Scordo; his grandma, Judy Myers; and his many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his grandma, Laura Scordo; grandpa, Michael Szymanski; nana, Phyllis Szymanski; and his beloved dog, Jojo.
The Myers family would like to thank the nursing staff and doctors at St. Joseph’s hospital for their tireless commitment and care they showed Michael and our family during his illness. Your compassion will not be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
Family and friends are invited to join in a celebration of Michael’s life to take place on Friday, March 18, 2022 from 3-8 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, Joliet. Funeral services will follow on Saturday, March 19, 2022, departing from the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. and processing to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to take place at 11:00 a.m. For more information please call 815-741-5500 or to leave an online condolence, visit www.fredcdames.com.
