Obituary of Colleen P. Kovic
Age 82 passed away peacefully, Wednesday, March 16th 2022 at Silver Cross Hospital with her loving family by her side.
Surviving are her three children, Michael (Shari) Kovic, Kelly (Larry) Alt and Kerry (Col. Joseph) Frescura. She was the loving and proud grandmother of six grandchildren; Capt. Patrick and Katie Kovic, Addison and Jack Alt, and Joseph and Alex Frescura. She is also survived by niece and goddaughter Lynn (Kovic) Baginski and very special friends Judy Sternisha and Barbara Greenham-Conway.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband Joseph Kovic, parents Joseph and Angela (Nee Schmitz) Gleason, brothers Patrick and Dennis Gleason and nephew Bill Kovic.
Colleen was born December 6, 1939 in Gary, IN. Her family moved to Joliet where she attended St. Raymond School (class of 1953) and St. Francis Academy (class of 1957). She married the love of her life, Joseph Kovic, on February 20, 1965 and together they built a beautiful life. Colleen loved being a homemaker and raising her family. Later in life she enjoyed working as a secretary for Fr. John Driscoll and the Joliet Diocese Missions. She also worked as a secretary for Holy Family School and St. John’s School. She was a long time member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Crest Hill, CCW and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of KSKJ, Will County Senior Center, where she loved attending her exercises classes and the Joliet Rivals Club Women’s Auxiliary where she enjoyed socializing with other members and attending the club’s events.
Visitation for Colleen P. Kovic will be Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet from 9:00 a.m. until chapel prayers at 11:00 a.m. The funeral procession will proceed to the Cathedral of St. Raymond, 604 N. Raynor Ave, Joliet where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cathedral of St. Raymond School, which Colleen held dearly in her heart, would be appreciated.
