James J. Cunneen
James J. Cunneen, of Plainfield, formerly of Cicero and Morris, passed away peacefully at the age of 80, on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Lightways Hospice Home, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on November 15, 1941, he was the son of the late Joseph and Lillian (nee Berry) Cunneen. James was born and raised in Chicago, IL, and was a graduate of St. Mels High School and attended Wright Jr. College and majored in liberal arts. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and helmsman of the USS Ranger.
James was a dedicated Graphics Engineer with Goss Graphics Systems, Inc. for over 30 years. A dedicated Scout Leader, he spent many years with Troop #305 in Cicero and Troop #466 in Coal City. He enjoyed playing chess, swimming and was an amateur artist in his younger days, which led him to his career in graphic design. Jim loved reading the newspaper, taking photos and was a great record keeper and coin collector. He was also very handy around the house, sketching out many of his projects by hand and executing his own renovations. He enjoyed joking around, a good wood fire, and the great outdoors.
James is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Pamela (nee Hrubes) Cunneen; his children, Bonnie (Frank) Messina, James Cunneen, and William (Alida) Cunneen; four grandchildren, Benjamin, Jacob, Vincent, and Maximus Cunneen; and his siblings, Mary Ann (the late Charles) Bruce and John Cunneen. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
