Obituary of Henry Hendel, Jr.
Age 79, of Lakeland, FL and formerly Joliet, IL passed away Sunday March 20, 2022 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.
He was born November 21, 1942 in Perth-Amboy, New Jersey to the late Mary Stephens and Henry Hendel, Sr.
Henry was raised in the Joliet area and after graduating high school, served his Country in the U.S. Navy.
He retired from Caterpillar Tractor Co after many years of dedicated service as a machinist.
Henry is survived by his daughter Lesa Hendel; grandchildren, Richard Hendel Jr, Kylyn (Brian) Hicks and Catie (Marco) Flores; great grandchildren, Camden, Abigail and Luca. Also surviving are his sister, Jane Semasko; brother, Jim Hendel and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jacquelyn (Breen) Hendel; daughter, Cheryl and son, Rick.
Henry appreciated the ability to enjoy retirement and spend some of that time in sunny Florida. He truly enjoyed cruising in his 2008 Shelby GT Ford Mustang.
Visitation for Henry will be held Saturday morning March 26, 2022 from 9:30 a.m. until services begin at 11:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
