Phyllis Ann Hoyland, passed away at the age of 94, on Monday, March 21, 2022, at Amita St. Joseph Medical Center. Phyl was born in Joliet on April 26, 1927, the daughter of the late Charles and Florene (nee Murley) Thomas. She grew up in Minooka and was a graduate of Minooka High School and attended Joliet Junior College. Phyl was an active member or St. Mary’s Church in Minooka and a former member of the Brookfield Zoological Society.
Phyl enjoyed taking in the sights as she loved traveling the world. She captured the beauty of life with her skills as a certified photographer. Phyl was also a certified master gardener. She will be remembered fondly for her strength, perseverance and grace.
Phyl is survived by her children, Michael (Clare) Hoyland, Mark Hoyland, Lynn (Michael) Kennedy, Ann (Harry Graley) Shepich, Jean (Dan) Rigazio, and James (Julie) Hoyland; her grandchildren, Emily Hoyland, Heather Hoyland-Behrens, Sam Kennedy, Peter Kennedy, Joseph Kennedy, Kyle Rigazio. Alex Rigazio, Jennifer Kamm, and Robert Hoyland; nine great-grandchildren; and her beloved daughter-in-law, Deanna Hoyland.
She is preceded by her husband, John Hoyland; her parents; her half brother, Richard Thomas; and a brother and sister in infancy.
Funeral Services for Phyllis Ann Hoyland were held privately by the family and interment took place at St. Mary Cemetery in Minooka, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Lightways Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431.
