Elaine G. Neilis, of Joliet, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 28, 2022, at the age of 94. Elaine was born on July 13, 1927, to the late Andy and Agnes (nee Paton) Elliott.  She was a graduate of Joliet Township High School with the class of 1945.  Elaine was married to her husband, Bill for 58 happy years, and raised their four daughters.  They lived most of their married life in New Lenox and enjoyed traveling the U.S. together, boating, camping and most of all being with their family.  Bill and Elaine retired to Florida in 1990 and returned to Joliet in 2003. Elaine was a retired member of Grace United Methodist Church. 

She is survived by her daughters, Jan (the late Tod) Masters, Lori (late Mike) Pool, Sue (nee Thompson) (Stan) Pasky, and Marci (Mike) Mason; her nephew, Paul Floyd; her three nieces, Andra Torrence, Teddi Smith, and Debbie Spencer; eight grandchildren, Bill (Naomi) Wisneski, Mike (Kim) Wisneski, Brian Thompson, Jeff (Carissa) Thompson, Mike Pool, Mandy (Nate) Barbour, Lindsey (Jaime) Sieck, and Ali (Dillon) Haase; 15 great-grandchildren, Josh (Jen) Wisneski, Zach, and Ryan Wisneski, Ava and Parker Thompson, Maverick, Marshall, Mason, and Addy Pool, Ben, Jake, and Annie Barbour, and Brody, Eli and Lily Sieck.

She is preceded by her loving husband of 58 years, Bill Neilis (2005); her parents; grandson, Scott Thompson; sister, Jennie Ann and her husband, Lawrence Floyd; her in-laws, Fred and Marge Neilis; brother-in-law, Jim and his wife, Marilyn Neilis; nephews, James “Chip” Neilis; and nieces, Terri Rys and Nancy Neilis.

Elaine's family would like to thank all the caregivers of Sunny Hill, especially Carl, Marilyn, Gwen, and Vickey, Gwen's predecessor, as well as the staff of Lightways Hospice.  Thank you for the love, compassion, patience, and kindness you have given to mom and shown us all.

Visitation for Elaine G. Neilis will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.. on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL.  Funeral Services and Inurnment will be held privately by the family.
