Obituary of Florence Palmer
Florence Palmer, passed away peacefully, at the age of 94, on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at Lightways Hospice Flo was born in Aurora, IL, on January 23, 1928, the daughter of the late Louis and Laura (nee Popp) Bara, and was a graduate of Aurora East High School. She has been a long time Joliet area resident and was formerly employed by Mary Lester Fabrics in Joliet.
Flo devoted her time to her family. She enjoyed baking and was a phenomenal cook. She was the type of woman that made friends with everyone she met. Her witty sense of humor and crafty nature made it easy to be drawn to her. Flo was loved by many and will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Flo is survived by her daughters, Sandra Sternisha, Anita (Robert) Kurpius, and Sharon K. Palmer; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a dear family friend, Richard Shega. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Hugh O. Palmer; her parents; her sisters, Mary Bara, in infancy, Mary Fruland, Helen West, and Emma Laver; and her brothers, Louis M. Bara, George Bara, and John Bara.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at Lightways Hospice Home for all the love and support that they showed to Florence and the entire family.
Visitation for Florence Palmer will be held on Tuesday, April 12 2022, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Homes 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Lightways Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431, would be appreciated.
