Obituary of Mark Thomas Sobczak, Sr.
Mark T. Sobczak, Sr., age 65, passed away suddenly on Friday, April 8, 2022 at Advocate South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, IL. Born in Evergreen Park, IL on November 26, 1956 to the late Stanley and Bertha Sobczak, Mark grew up in Country Club Hills and graduated from Hillcrest High School. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. On May 10, 1982, he married Sharon Lynch in Markham, IL, and the two were close to celebrating their 40th anniversary. They made their home in Country Club Hills since 1986. Mark's faith was very important to him, and he attended many of the area's local Catholic Churches, but he most regularly attended his home parish, St. Emeric's in Country Club Hills.
Mark was a hardworking man who was devoted to his family. He loved to garden, and enjoyed travelling and road trips. He most especially enjoyed family get togethers and cooking for everyone. His greatest joy though was spending time with his grandchildren.
Mark is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Sobczak; his children, Christen (Walter, Jr.) Mencl, Carly (Edwin) Santiago, and Mark T. (Nicole) Sobczak, Jr.; his grandchildren, Logan and Lucas Mencl, Paige Santiago, and Nathan Sobczak; his siblings, Jane (Daniel) Stocker, Robert (Andrea) Sobczak, and Laura (Harlon) Piercy; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many good friends.
