Judy Cavazos

Obituary of Judy Cavazos

Judy Cavazos, age 78, of Joliet, left this world peacefully on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving daughter and family. Judy embodied strength, courage and love as she battled cancer the last few months.   Judy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.  She adored her family to the very end.

Judy was born on May 19, 1943 in Kalispell, MT, the daughter of Cai and Lois Nyby.  She married Frank G. Cavazos in 1965 and they resided in Homer Glen for 44 years before moving to Joliet, where they lived today.  Judy had a successful career at Caterpillar for ten years before she started several successful businesses in Joliet with her husband, his parents, and family.  Judy’s passion in life was family, friends and working hard beside her husband, Frank.  She enjoyed flying with Frank and flew as his co-pilot in their private plane for many years.  The oldest sibling of three, her strength will be missed by all. Judy had a life well lived.

Judy is survived by her daughter, Shannon (Phil) Hart; grandchildren, Kayleigh Hart and Ryan Hart of Washington; her siblings, Lorraine (Jack) White and Leon (Susan) Nyby; sisters-in-law, Elisa Nino, Rachel (the late William) Sanders; and brother-in-law,  Manuel Cavazos, Jr.   Judy also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Cavazos and her parents, Cai and Lois Nyby.

The family offers their sincere gratitude to Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care for their care during her illness.
