Obituary of David H. Dilday
David H. Dilday, age 63, of Joliet, IL passed from this life Wednesday evening, May 4, 2022 after a lengthy battle against cancer. Dave was born in Joliet to the late Alice (nee Zivic) and Henry Dilday on October 16, 1958. He attended Joliet grade schools and graduated with the Class of 1975 from Joliet Township High School. He later went on to earn degrees from Joliet Junior College, Purdue University, and a Masters from Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management’s Executive MBA Program.
Dave is survived by his sons, Aaron (Ky) Dilday, Matthew (Michelle) Dilday, and Benjamin (Trisha) Dilday; grandchildren, Gabriel, Tristan, Vera, and Miles; siblings, Dennis Dilday, Cynthia (Michael) Foulk, Karen McCoy, and Steven (Dharmesh) Dilday; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
Dave retired from Exxon-Mobil after serving many years there as a mechanical engineer. He also briefly taught business courses at National Louis University. Dave enjoyed exercising and he loved to travel. Some of his favorite adventures included fly fishing in Montana, experiencing the rich cultures of Europe and Southeast Asia, and enjoying time with close friends in Costa Rica. However, the marvels of the world paled in comparison to his greatest passion of spending time with his family and friends. Dave absolutely loved the Christmas season and visitors to his home would often find classic Christmas tunes playing all year long.
Visitation for Dave will be held Tuesday May 10, 2022 from 3-7 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) in Joliet. Cremation rites will be accorded following his visitation.
