Obituary of Dorothy M. Pazely
Dorothy M. Pazely, age 94, a lifelong Joliet resident and over 20 year resident of Chovan Estates, passed away peacefully, Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, with her loving family by her side.
Born January 9, 1928 in Joliet, she was the daughter of John and Catherine (Marjasevich) Grzetich, and was a graduate of St. John Grade School and Providence High School. She married the love of her life, Richard Pazely, and he preceded her in death in 1974.
She is survived by her beloved sister, Irene R. (the late Raymond F.) Siefert; her loving niece and nephew, Michelle (Gary) Gudac and John (Jen) Siefert; five great nieces and nephews, Matthew (Shelby) Gudac, Andrew Gudac, and Jordan, Jarod and Jade Siefert; a great-great baby Gudac due in July; and a dear cousin, Rosemary Zell.
Dorothy, who was lovingly know as “Dot” and “Auntie,” was a very religious woman who was devoted to the Blessed Mother and faithfully prayed the Rosary. She was like a second mother and second grandmother to Michelle and John, and her great nieces and nephews. She enjoyed the more than 20 years she worked as a teller for the former Union National Bank and later First Midwest Bank. Dorothy was also a wonderful baker and candy maker, and her walnut poticia was a family favorite. Another cherished tradition was Christmas Eve, which "Auntie" hosted annually. She will be remembered for her patience, kindness and generosity, along with many other qualities.
Her family would like to express their deep appreciation to the entire staff of Our Lady of Angels, Dr. Karl Szafranski, and especially the staff of 1st Floor, B Wing for their loving care. She considered OLA her home and her caregivers like family.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy Pazely will be celebrated Monday, June 6, 2022 at 11:00 a.m., at St. Anne Catholic Church, Crest Hill, where family and friends will gather for visitation 30 minutes prior to Mass. Interment in St. Mary Nativity Cemetery, Crest Hill, will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home would be appreciated.
