Richard L. Palmer
Age 87, of Shorewood, IL and formerly Palatine, IL, passed from this life Thursday June 2, 2022 at Ascension Health St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, IL.
Rich was born and raised in the Boston, Massachusetts area. He served his Country proudly in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1955.
He is the beloved husband of Patricia Plotke-Palmer; loving father of Richard Palmer, Jr; dearest step-father of Tim (Noelle) Plotke, Kathy (Chris) Meyer and Sharon (Jeremy) Christian; fond grandpa of Caitlyn and Erin; Kaj, Delaney and Finn; Dominique, Larissa, Piper and Felicia.
Rich was employed for many years in maintenance, eventually retiring from the Buehler YMCA in Palatine. He was a member of the AF & AM (Masonic Lodge) and a proud Shriner.
Visitation for Richard Palmer will be Sunday June 5, 2022 from 2-5 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet. A prayer service beginning at 5 p.m. will conclude the afternoon. Interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name can be made to any organization supporting Veterans.
