Obituary of Julie Patricia Doty
Julie Patricia Doty (nee Obenhin)
Julie Patricia Doty, passed away peacefully, on Monday, June 6th, 2022, at her home in Joliet, surrounded by the love of her family. Julie was born in Streator, IL on May 8th, 1958, the daughter of the late Norman and Mary Ellen (nee Stewart) Obenhin. Julie was a graduate of Woodland High School and attended Joliet Junior College where she completed courses as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant (CNA). A job she thoroughly enjoyed and loved so very much. In her earlier years, Julie was a dedicated Customer Service Representative for ComEd, however, her role as a mother was what she cherished most.
Julie was an avid lover of the outdoors. When she wasn’t busy being the best mother she could possibly be to her family she was often found tending to her flowers and garden or spending time with her beloved dogs. In the summer days, Julie could always be found with a fishing pole in hand either on the shore of a local pond or in a fishing boat casting out a line and soaking up the sunshine. Julie loved to camp, take daily walks around the neighborhood, ride her bicycle, cookout in the backyard, and be surrounded by family. Besides her family, what Julie cherished most was spending her mornings with God. Julie was an incredible woman of faith and took every opportunity she could to spread his love and happiness into the world and into the lives of every person’s path she crossed each day. She enjoyed volunteering at her local church’s food drive and spending evenings attending a local bible study.
Julie is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Richard Doty; her children, Amy Burgett (nee Masse), Jack Masse, Jennifer Masse, Rachel Doty, Diane “Dee” Kim (nee Doty), William Doty, and Nicholas Doty; her grandchildren, Tyler Burgett, Ryane Burgett, Taylor Masse, Charlotte Masse, Aden Kim, Grayson Diamond, and Weslyn Thatcher; and her many siblings, Mike Obenhin, James “Jimmy” Obenhin, Stacey Hallam (nee Obenhin), Diane Genseke (nee Obenhin), Maureen Smetzer (nee Obenhin), Terri Moore (nee Obenhin), and Shelia Harber (nee Obenhin). She is preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Mary Ellen Obenhin; her brother, Thomas Obenhin; her first husband, Jack Steele; and her second husband, Kenneth Masse.
