Obituary of Delores M. Simon

Delores M. Simon, age 84, late of Yorkville, and formerly of Joliet, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at home, with her loving family by her side.

Born December 23, 1937 in Chicago, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Ruth (Bosch) Rothman. 

Delores was a loving, caring and quiet mother and grandmother who loved all her children and grandchildren dearly.

She is survived by her beloved children, Daniel Smicker, Marina Shortley, Laura Gutierrez-Vallejo, Karen Gutierrez, Victor Gutierrez, Anna Bretz, Mary Gutierrez and John Gutierrez; nine adoring grandchildren, Helen Pina-Smicker, Michael Mejia, David Valesquez, Gabrielle Vallejo, Anthony Gutierrez, Michael James, Daniel James, and Jaden Gutierrez; and many great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Simon; one daughter, Rose Arias; one granddaughter, Nicole Winchell; and her parents.

Services for Delores Simon will be private.  Cremation rites have been accorded and interment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at a later date.
