Christopher Chastain

Obituary of Christopher R. Chastain

Christopher Robert Chastain, age 33, of Joliet, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 6, 2022.

Chris was born September 19, 1988 in Elgin, IL and was a graduate of Plainfield South High School with the Class of 2008.  He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving with the 10th Mountain Division, attaining the rank of Private Second Class.  He worked as a pipefitter and was a proud member of Local #597.

Our hearts are broken by the loss of our beloved Christopher so suddenly, but his energy and presence will be a part of us forever.  We will never forget how much he loved to play computer games, his skill at playing the card game “Magic”, his love of motorcycles, his keen Frisbee golf skills and his affection for his dog, Reptar.  Last but not least, he was a good man, a hard worker, and a gentle soul with an unfailing dedication and devotion to his family.

He was the beloved father of his pride and joy, Autumn Faith Chastain; and the loving and devoted son of Julie Volpert-Augello.  He is also survived and will be dearly missed by his wife, Lisa (Kaczkowski) Chastain; his brothers, Justin (April) Quatrano and Anthony (Robin) Quatrano; several nieces, nephews and great-nephews, and one great-niece.

He was preceded in death by his father, Albert “Bo” Augello; grandparents, Joan Pauls and John Volpert, Sr.; and two dear uncles, Michael Volpert and John Volpert, Jr.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a celebration of Christopher’s life will be held at a later date.  His final resting place will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
