Obituary of Kenneth Steve Jaszczak

Kenneth Steve Jaszczak, age 74, of Shorewood, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Silver Cross Hospital, with his loving family at his side.

Born September 5, 1947 in Chicago, he was the son of Steve L. and Maryanne (Pencak) Jaszczak, and was a graduate of Weber High School, Class of 1965. He continued his education at Lewis University, receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting in 1969, and completing the requirements to become a Certified Public Accountant.

Ken served as a Vice President with First National Bank for several years before forming his own business in 1985, Kenneth S. Jaszczak, CPA, serving businesses and private clients faithfully and professionally for 37 years. He was a member of the American and Illinois Institutes of Certified Public Accountants, and had a proud reputation for never turning anyone away who sought his services and guidance.

A loving and caring husband, father and grandfather, he was a spiritual man whose Catholic faith was of great importance in his daily life. He had a warm and generous personality, and was always there for whatever his family needed. He will be remembered for his kindness, wonderful sense of humor, warm smile and his distinctive laugh. He was also a talented dancer, and the dances with his daughters at their weddings will long be remembered.

Ken was also a huge sports enthusiast, but he especially delighted in watching his own children and grandchildren play for their various teams. He and Maureen loved to travel, and they were able to enjoy many years of cruising throughout the world.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 53 years, Maureen M. (Cavanaugh) Jaszczak; four devoted children, Julianne (Jeffrey) Van Eck of Coal City, Dana (Daniel) Luedke of Shorewood, Steven (Shauna) Jaszczak of Plainfield, and Mary (Douglas) Bedinger of Coal City; his adoring grandchildren, Lukas and Ian Van Eck, Alexander and Thomas Luedke, Emma and Molly Jaszczak, and Bailee and Douglas III Bedinger; a dear sister-in-law, Kathy (the late John) Wilhelmi; two nephews, John (Ajla) Wilhelmi and Jim (Teri) Wilhelmi.  Ken is also survived by aunts, an uncle and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Maryanne; his wife’s parents, Thomas C. and Juel Cavanaugh; and several aunts and uncles.

Visitation for Kenneth Jaszczak will be held Friday, July 1, 2022 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 2, 2022 at 9:15 a.m., from the funeral home to Holy Family Catholic Church, Shorewood. Cremation rites will be accorded following services and interment in Woodlawn Memorial Park will be at a later date.
