Obituary of Jean Strappazon Peterson

Age 95, of Joliet, IL passed peacefully, Friday morning, July 8, 2022 at the Victory Center of Joliet.

She was born in Joliet May 26, 1927, to the late Ruth E. (Vickery) and John C. Spiers. Jean was a graduate of Joliet Township High School with the class of 1945.

She was employed as a secretary over the years, eventually retiring from the EJ & E Railroad.

Her fondest memories were singing in the acapella choir and in operettas in high school, playing baseball with the boys and cheering on her children as they played sports. Other hobbies of hers included bowling, sudoku, crossword puzzles, old movies and listening to 40’s music.

Beloved mother of John (Wanda) Strappazon of Ft. Worth, TX, Kimberlee (Rick) Biskie of San Jacinto, CA; dearest grandmother of Lindsay (Josef) Ott and Jason (Qing) Biskie; proud great-grandmother of Everett Ott, Caiden Ott; Serena Biskie and Amanda Biskie. Two sisters, Betty Azman and Joyce Helis as well as several nieces and nephews also survive.

Preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Peterson; daughter, Randi Strappazon; sister, Gloria Lenci; two brothers, Bill Spiers and Tommy Spiers.

A Memorial Gathering to honor Jean was held Thursday, July 14, 2022, at the Victory Center in Joliet at noon where she had made her home these last few years and where she was known as fun and feisty.

As it was Jean's wish, cremation rites have been accorded and her final earthly remains will be interred at Elmhurst Cemetery in Joliet.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jean’s name can be made to Elara Hospice.
