Obituary of Donald "Scott" Cronk

Donald “Scott” Cronk, age 70, of Joliet, IL passed peacefully from this life to his heavenly home, Saturday morning July 9, 2022 at Lightways Hospice Home of Joliet.  He was born May 22, 1952 in Joliet to the late Yvonne “Bonnie” (Robbins) and Donald Cronk.

Beloved husband of 49 years to Judy (Gawenda) Cronk; loving father of Joshua Cronk, Jay (Sally) Cronk, Sarah (Jason) Hooge, Dave (Lauren) Cronk, and Michelle (David) Johnson; adoring grandpa of 19 and great-grandpa to one. Survived by one brother Mark (Lisa) Cronk; uncle, Charles “Corky” (Mary) Robbins, and one aunt, Doris Harrigan. Many dear extended family members and friends also survive.

Scott graduated from Joliet Central High School.  He worked as a drywaller/taper/painter through Union Local 33/14.  He was a member of Parkview Christian Church.  As a servant for the Lord, he served many churches- preaching, counseling, teaching Sunday school, working with food pantries, and 19 years of leading nursing home church services.

Scott was also an avid outdoorsman and had many hobbies.  He loved fishing, kayaking, water skiing, and boating. He also enjoyed sport/target shooting, and bike riding. He was known as a “jack-of-all-trades”, always completing and assisting in home repairs/projects for his family and friends. He loved his family and as his wife will attest, “He was fun to be married to!” One of the many things he will be remembered for was his patriotic love of our country and his large 4th of July parties.

Scott’s cancer diagnosis did not stop him from living every moment to the fullest, soaking up every single minute with his family; traveling, attending his grandkid’s sports games, and continuing to help his family with various projects. He will be missed tremendously and he leaves behind an incredible legacy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lightways Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431.
