James Pampuch

Obituary of James A. Pampuch

James A. Pampuch, age 78, passed peacefully at his home in Joliet, on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, surrounded by the love of his family.  Jim was born on June 23, 1944, in Arcadia, WI, to the late Herman and Bernice (nee Smaja) Pampuch.  He was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran who served during Viet Nam.

Jim worked for the railroad throughout his career.  He started at the EJ & E and ended up retiring from Trailer Train in Chicago.  He always felt fortunate as to have enjoyed nearly 18 years of retirement.

Jim was an outdoorsman, if you didn't see him manicuring his yard with precision, tending to his garden, or grilling, he was quite possibly pursuing his other hobbies of hunting and fishing.

Jim is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Judith A. (nee Moats) Pampuch; his children, Shane (Lynn) Pampuch, Shannon Pampuch and Shiloh (Patrick) Canning; seven grandchildren; and three great-children.  Also surviving are his brother, Gary (Pat) Pampuch; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for James A. Pampuch will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service  7:00 p.m. As it was his request, cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
