Dr. William Francis Robinson
Dr. William Francis Robinson, passed away at the age of 84, on Sunday, August 14, 2022, at Rush University Hospital in Chicago, IL. William was born in Chicago on February 28, 1938, the son of the late George William and Dorothea Frances (nee Bernick) Robinson.
He was raised in Illinois, was a graduate of Fenwick High School, attended St. Benedicts College in Atchison, Kansas and medical school at Loyola University. William joined the Air Force at Nellis, serving 1968 to 1970, bringing him to spend many of his adult years in Las Vegas, NV. He then practiced as an Obstetrician/Gynecologist in Women’s Hospital and later owned his own practice. He married Valerie Gobble (deceased 2000) and fathered two children, Heather and George.
In his free time during retirement, William relaxed while playing golf. He loved everything that the game had to offer, from the challenges of the sport to the relationships that he fostered on the course, playing regularly with dear friends Dr. Frank Tomasik and Mr. Jim Moore. He also enjoyed the scene of the casinos and testing his hand gambling. The last few years of his life he had a loving relationship with Fran Naal and enjoyed a home-cooked meal and a glass of wine.
William is survived by his daughter, Heather (nee Robinson) Weidner; son, George Robinson; siblings, Trish Brandenburg and Tom Robinson; and grandchildren, Dallas Weidner, Keira Robinson, and Ruby Robinson.
A Memorial Gathering for Dr. William Francis Robinson will be held on Monday, September 5, 2022, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Service at 11:30 a.m. As it was his request, cremation rites have been accorded.
