Obituary of Robert Lee Norton
Robert Lee Norton
Robert Lee Norton, passed away at the age of 92, on Monday, August 22, 2022, with the love of his family by his side. Bob was born in Evanston, IL, on June 24, 1930, the only son of the late William Roy and Helen (nee Salter) Norton. Raised in Chicago, he attended Austin High School. Bob was a proud decorated veteran of the United States Air Force, earning an Occupation Medal in Germany and a Medal for Humane Action. Bob started his career repairing furniture and then moved into sales, retiring in 1987 after over 25 successful years in the automotive industry.
Bob was a “fix it” man by nature. He enjoyed working on and restoring cars and spent several years in Branson, MO with his wife, Joyce, where they enjoyed boating and having the grandkids down for vacations. Above all, his family always came first. He was a long-time member of the Riviera Owners Association, Buick Club of America, was a very active and social resident of Shorewood Glen, and was a volunteer for more than 10 years with Meals on Wheels.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of almost 61 years, Joyce Ann (nee Saltzgiver); his children, Linda (Bill) Zimmer, Rick (Lynn) Norton, and Russ (Marcy) Norton; grandchildren, Jill (Chad) LaCost, Matthew Zanon, Kristen Norton, and Katelyn Norton; and one great-grandchild, Elias Wright.
He is preceded by his first wife, Cora Mae (nee Rodgers) Norton; his parents; and his devoted canine companion, “Heidi”.
