Obituary of Mary Jane Budz
Mary Jane Budz, age 83, passed away peacefully with her husband of 61 years, Norbert Budz, at her side on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at Park Pointe Healthcare and Rehab Center in Morris.
Mary was born on October 18, 1938, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of the late Chester and Grace (nee Earl) Klien. Mary was a graduate of Luther South High School, Class of 1956. She married Norbert on May 6, 1961 and the two spent most of their years together in Oak Lawn, IL. Through many years of marriage, they enjoyed traveling the country together with dear friends before retiring to Monticello, IN in 2004.
Mary worked for many years as a bank teller, but her most important role was as a mother and grandmother. She cherished her time spent as a Girl Scout leader as it gave her more time to be with her children and grandchildren.
Mary will be remembered for her love of music and all things Christmas. She had a great fondness for playing Yahtzee with all of the grandchildren and spending summers at Indiana Beach. She enjoyed her Hallmark movies, Wheel of Fortune and Golden Girls. In Mary’s better days, she could work crossword and jigsaw puzzles with the best of them.
Mary is survived by loving husband, Norbert Budz; her daughter, Lita (the late Robert) Mason of Park Falls, Wisconsin; her grandchildren Jessica O'Leary, Katie Knight and D.J. O'Leary; great-grandchildren Antonio Moy, Brayden Domenico, Dezhon and Jeremiah Knight; and sister-in-law Sandra Klien. She was adored by many nieces and nephews, friends and an abundance of Girl Scouts she had over the years.
