Mary Kay (nee Kobiljak) Rafidi, passed away at the age of 56, on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at her home in Plainfield, surrounded by the love of her family.  She was born in Evergreen Park on January 15, 1966, the daughter of the late Margaret (nee McHatton) Kobiljak.  Mary Kay attended Lewis University and was employed as a Registered Nurse for many years, most recently at Marian Joy Rehabilitation Hospital in Wheaton, Illinois.

She enjoyed passing her time with her family and dogs.

Mary Kay is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Fadi Rafidi; her children Fuad Rafidi, Nada (Chase) Seybert of Wilmington, IL, Sally Rafidi, Mariam (Nick Polimenakos) Rafidi, and Fadi F. Rafidi, all from Plainfield, IL; her granddaughter on the way, Vivian Alicia Seybert; and her sister, Jean (the late John) Lehrmann of Oak Lawn, IL.

She is preceded by her mother; maternal grandparents, Kathryn and Joseph McHatton, her aunt and uncle, Marie and William Higgins, uncle, Joseph A. McHatton; and her husband’s parents, Fuad and Nada Rafidi. 

Visitation for Mary Kay Rafidi will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL, from 3:00 p.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 7:00 p.m. The family requests that anyone in attendance wear their most comfortable pajamas.  There will be an additional prayer service on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel.

As it was her request, cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
