Josephine Treyz Seeley

Josephine T. Seeley passed away peacefully at the Gardens of Park Pointe in Morris, IL, at the age of 101 on Sunday, September 18, 2022. Jo was born in Binghamton, NY, to the late Harry and Martha (nee Davey) Treyz, and lived in upstate New York most of her young life. She is preceded by her brother, Oliver Treyz.

The family lived in Livingston Manor, NY, for most of her life. Josephine attended Penn State and then Oneonta Teacher’s College where she received a degree in elementary education. She taught for several years and after her children were in school she was a substitute teacher.

Jo was married to Glenn S. Seeley in 1947, and they lived in Bay Shore, Long Island, NY, and then in Palm Harbor, Florida. When her husband passed away in 2003 she moved to Illinois. During her life she was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Bay Shore. She loved swimming, cooking healthy meals, playing bridge, square dancing and was a member of P.E.O., and helping neighbors and friends. Josephine had a very creative side, writing poems and songs.

Josephine is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Greg) Seeley Zipprich and Jean Seeley Prickett; grandchildren, David (Bronwyn Monahan) Prickett and great-grandchildren, David and Joseph. Her other grandchild is Rebecca (Alex Carroll) Zipprich and great-grandchildren, Adam and Vincent.

Her cremated remains will be buried at a graveside service next to her late husband in Livingston Manor, NY in the Catskills in July 2023 when relatives can attend.
