Cheryl Lynn Garza, passed away peacefully at the age of 67, on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at Lightways Hospice, with the love of her family by her side.  Cheryl was born on May 30, 1955, the daughter of the late Jack and Beverly (nee Luce) Roberts.  Born and raised in Joliet, Cheryl graduated from Joliet East High School and Joliet Junior College.  She enjoyed a long rewarding career as a Licensed Practicing Nurse at St. Joseph Medical Center and most recently Chaney Monge Grade School in Crest Hill. 

When Cheryl wasn’t tending to sick kids at work, she always kept herself busy.  She enjoyed shopping, attending craft shows, and hanging out with friends.  She loved her family more than anything, and had a special bond with her godchildren.  Cheryl had a sweet tooth for anything chocolate and loved an ice cold Sprite.

Cheryl is survived by her son, Raymond Garza; daughter, Lisa Garza; grandchildren, Autumn Marie and Joaquin Enrique Garza; and one sister, Teresa Marie (Robert) Fitzpatrick. Many nieces, nephews, cousins and godchildren also survive.

She is preceded by her husband, Raynaldo Garza; her parents; and one brother, Michael Roberts.

Funeral Services for Cheryl Lynn Garza will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL.  Interment will follow at Elmhurst Cemetery in Joliet.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the funeral home from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Lightways Hospice, 250 Water Stone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431, would be appreciated.
