Robert J. “Reuben” McDonald

Died: October 27, 2022 Joliet, IL
Retired Apparatus Operator/Paramedic on Engine 10C, Reuben McDonald passed from this life Thursday, October 27, 2022 at his home.
Survived by his loving family members, his brother Patrick (Sharon) McDonald, uncle John “Jack” McDonald, aunt, Sandy Maher, cousins, Patti (Chris) Ryg, Michelle (Bob) Jankowski, Janice (Tom) Russell, Melissa Maher, Brian Hibler, Dan (Jayne) Maher, Irene Maher, Christy (Ron) Autenrieth and Tom (Andrea) Davis. He will also be missed by lifelong friend Tula Kareotes and numerous friends.
Preceded in death by his loving parents, James and Frances McDonald, grandparents, Frank and Nora Maher, James and Katherine McDonald; aunts and uncles, Joan (Bob) Offermann, Jayne (Phil) Golliher, MaryEllen (George) Eberhard, Thomas Maher, Tom and Kathleen Davis; cousins, Sheree Davis, John Maher and Peter Schmucki.
He was a member of Joliet Ravens Club and enjoyed playing pool, snowmobiling in Wisconsin and riding his motorcycle.
Reuben was great in the kitchen and loved spending time cooking and trying new recipes.
He was proud of his Irish heritage. He could be found “on occasion” partaking in a bit of Irish cheer and dice throwing at family parties and with friends.
Reuben loved serving his community as a firefighter/paramedic and his family takes comfort in knowing his comrades and friends from JFD were with him in the end.

Visitation for Reuben will be Thursday November 3, 2022 from 3-8 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home Friday morning November 4, 2022, 9:30 a.m. to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Inurnment will take place on a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery in Manhattan.
In lieu of flowers memorials in Reuben’s name to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
