Obituary of Donald T. Repko
Donald Thomas Repko, age 91, of Shorewood, IL passed away peacefully, Monday, October 31, 2022 at home, surrounded by his devoted family.
Don was born August 6, 1931 in Streator, IL, son of the late Andrew and Elizabeth (Gutch) Repko, and served his country with the United States Air Force during the Korean War. For several years, he owned and operated Don’s Barber Shop at “six corners” in Joliet. He later became a carpenter, serving many years as a proud member of Carpenters Local #174
An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and tinkering in his garage. Don never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need of his carpentry skills. Most importantly, he made sure to devote time and attention to his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his “Don-isms” and his willingness to offer advice.
Don is survived by his children: Amy Carper of Quincy, Stacy (Jim) Burns of Joliet, and Michael (Susan) Repko of Cedar Rapids, IA; nine grandchildren, Afton Carper, J.P., Allyson and Chase Burns, and Samantha, Christopher, Renee, Audrey and Daniel Repko; a cousin, Richard (Marylee) Repko; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, George; and two sisters, Barbara and Mary Ann.
