Deborah Slucki

Obituary of Deborah L. Slucki

Debbie Slucki, age 53, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer at the Lightways Hospice Home surrounded by her family on Monday, October 31, 2022. Born in Joliet, IL on November 7, 1968, Debbie was a lifelong area resident, most recently residing in Shorewood.  She was part of the last graduating class of Holy Cross Catholic Grade School, and a graduate of Joliet Central High School, class of ’86.  She worked for many years in the banking industry, originally for the Peotone Bank, and then for First Midwest, where she served as Treasury Management Implementation and Client Services Manager, Vice President. She was proud of her work at the bank. She was loved and respected by her teams and coworkers.

Debbie was a kind and caring person. She loved everyone, and everyone loved her. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, whether it was celebrating the holidays or vacationing. She was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan, and she loved animals.

Debbie was a strong advocate for the foster care system. Through her support and time given to that special cause, she achieved perhaps her greatest joy in life, being united with her adopted son Kelly.

Debbie is survived by her 11 year old son, Kelly Slucki; her father Dennis (Carol) Slucki; her mother Roberta Lundstrom; brother Brian (Denise) Slucki; sister Denise (Scott) Adams; her nieces and nephews Bayla, Nathan, and Haddie Slucki, and Margaret Adams; aunt and uncles Charlene (the late Tom) Briddick, Cindy (Bruce) Stacy, Mary Lundstrom, Patti (Ralph) Fenili, David (Nancy) Slucki, and Beverly (Wayne Sr.) Schewe; and many cousins and good friends, and her beloved dog Rockie.

She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, John and Margaret Slucki; maternal grandparents Joseph and Loretta Lundstrom; and uncle Charles “Bud” (Donna) Lundstrom.

All family and friends are invited to join in a celebration of Debbie’s life to be held on her birthday, Monday, November 7, 2022 from 4-7 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, Joliet. Funeral services to follow on Tuesday, November 8, 2002 with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Holy Family Catholic Church in Shorewood at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name can be made to a gofundme account (https://gofund.me/acfc2a0c) set up to help with her son’s future expenses.
