Obituary of Amanda Marie Kunze

Amanda Marie “Missy” Kunze, age 44, passed away peacefully at her home in Joliet surrounded by loving family. Missy battled Rett Syndrome over the course of her life, and even though that brought its struggles, it did not take away from the joy and love that she brought her family. She was known for her beautiful smile, which made the day of everyone who saw it. She was a graduate of the Joliet Central High School Adaptive Vocational Academic Center (AVAC) program, attended United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) programs, and was a member of the Kiwanis Aktion Club.

 

Missy is survived by her parents, Lawrence and Terry Kunze (née Dumont); brother, Aaron (Morgan) Kunze; nephews, Benjamin and Theodore Kunze; aunts and uncles, Dean Dumont, Kathleen (Stephen) Hedrick, Patrick (Barbara) Dumont, Bonnie (Tim) Fox, Mary (John) Hedrick; many cousins, and special caregivers Arika Wenneberg, Mary Wilcox, Crystal Eagle, and Rebecca Hurley.

 

She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Chester and Agnes Kunze; maternal grandparents, Raymond Dumont and Maura Dunn; and uncle, Thomas Dumont.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name can be made to Crossroads Christian Church, Lightways Hospice, or Trinity Services.

 

All friends and family are invited to join in a celebration of Missy’s life to take place on Monday, November 14, 2022 at Crossroads Christian Church, 2312 Essington Road, Joliet with a memorial visitation from 9AM concluding with a service at 10AM.
