Obituary of Patricia H. Steffensmeier

Patricia Steffensmeier (née Klecha), age 80 of Plainfield, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 14, 2022 surrounded by family.  She was born on June 25, 1942 in Chicago.  Pat married Mark Steffensmeier, and the two celebrated 57 years of marriage before his passing in 2020. The pair were long-time South Side of Chicago residents before relocating to Plainfield in 1999. 

Pat retired from Gofen & Glossberg after 26 years in 2015. She also served as the Vice President of the Railroad Retirement Board.  She volunteered so much of her time to the Girl Scouts while raising her three daughters.

Pat is survived by three daughters: Nanette Steffensmeier of LaSalle, Paula Steffensmeier of Shorewood, and Laura Schubert of Austin, TX; sister:  Margaret (Harlow) Lockwood; brother: Paul Klecha; grandchildren:  Patricia Meadows, Daniel (Sara) Meadows, Thomas (Miranda) Steffensmeier, Jimmy (Brittany) Meadows; great grandchild:  Kaison Balaja; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; sisters and brothers-in-law:  Anne (late Dusty) Rhoades, Charlie (Jane) Steffensmeier. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother-in-law, Jim (Carolyn) Steffensmeier.

She will be dearly remembered as a friend to everyone, famous for her chocolate chip cookies, her love of all things Elvis, and her ability to outlast everyone on the dance floor.

Visitation for Pat Steffensmeier will be Thursday November 17, 2022 at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet from 3:00pm – 7:00pm. Funeral services Friday, November 18, 2022 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to Holy Family Catholic Church, 600 N. Brookforest Dr., Shorewood for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery, Glenwood where Pat will be laid to rest next to her husband Mark. Memorials in her name to the ALS Association would be appreciated.
