Obituary of Gerald M. Pubentz
Age 81, of Morris, IL and formerly Minooka and Joliet, passed unexpectedly at home, Monday evening, November 21, 2022.
He was born September 2, 1941 to the late Angela (O’Brien) and John Pubentz. He was raised and educated in Joliet and graduated from Joliet Catholic High, class of 1959. Gerry received a bachelor degree from Quincy College and was a reservist with the United States Marine Corps.
He is survived by Karen, his beloved wife of 12 years; daughter, Jennifer Buri da Cunha; son, Jeffrey (Gail) Pubentz; stepdaughters, Sara (Michael) Tams, Elizabeth (Grant) Graver and Kimberly (Johnny) Allgaeuer; grandchildren, Bailey, Chloe, Jack, Emma, Matthew, Nathan, Ashley, Johnny and Hailey. Also surviving are his sister, Carol Sterr-Lehman and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Jane Pubentz, brother, John “Jack” Pubentz, sister-in-law, Marlene (Misewicz) Pubentz; and brothers-in-law, John Sterr and George "Brunch" Lehman.
Gerry worked for Met Life, Man Power, Inc., and Temp Help before retiring from the Joliet Township Government. He enjoyed his time in Rotary and serving on the JCA Alumni Board. In his free time, he enjoyed travel, gardening, rooting for the White Sox and Bears, and most of all, fishing -his favorite pastime. He was always ready with a smile, a kind word, or a joke, and was a treasured member of his family and community. Gerry lived a life of faith and integrity, and loved those close to him with all his heart. His warmth, compassion, and humor were a gift to all who knew him.
As it was Gerry’s wish, cremation rites have been accorded.
All friends and relatives are invited to gather on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 18 N. Woodlawn Avenue in Joliet, where visitation will begin from 9:30 a.m. until the Memorial Mass of Christian Burial is celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Inurnment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Joliet.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name can be made to St. Paul the Apostle School.
